Refresher for Returning Users
If you haven’t used Planning since last year, you don’t have to start from scratch, but you should check the following:
You will be using your Pennkey and PennKey password to sign in.
Your machine or browser might have been updated. Make sure you still have one that works.
Your machine or Excel might have been updated. Confirm that SmartView still works if you’re using it.
The orgs you need access to may have changed. Confirm your security.
Your preferences might have been reset or may need to change.
Remember, you need to do data entry at the lowest level: make sure you have navigated to one org, fund, program, cref and employee (if in salary forms). Otherwise the cells won’t be yellow which shows that data entry will be accepted.
You might want to start by reviewing how good was your forecast was last year (if you did one) by running the A9-Closing Summary report.
You might want to look at the A4-YTD Summary for this year, to see how you’re doing so far, or the Calculated Forecast, to see where you might end up if this year is exactly like last year.
And before starting data entry, you might want to remind yourself which COA combinations are budgeted (versus those that just have actuals) by running the A7- and A8-Detail reports.
