Browsers

Internet Explorer 11 and Firefox 45esr are the recommended browsers.

Internet Explorer Settings

Planning requires Internet Explorer 11 with compatibility view turned off.

(Note: BEN Financials will not work with compatibility view turned off in IE11. (Browser recommendations for BEN Financials are located here). If you want to use both applications in IE11, you can set compatibility view on for upenn.edu only, and Hyperion will not be affected since it is not a upenn.edu address anymore. Otherwise, we recommend you use IE11 for BEN Financials and Firefox for Hyperion.)

Make sure all popup blockers are off in Internet Options, Privacy, and anywhere else you have a popup blocker.

If you don’t mind having your browser keep track of your comings and goings on the internet, you can let it remember so that it doesn’t ask you every time. Otherwise it will ask for your Identity Domain (A183374), your PennKey and password, and two stage if you are enrolled.

In order to remember your Identity Domain (A183374) in Internet Options, Privacy choose Remember History and then choose Remember my choice or remember this browser the first time through. Note: this does not always work, and we are trying to get to the bottom of it. If you have details, please send us pictures of your setting and its behavior.

To remember your PennKey and masked password,  in Internet Options, Content, choose AutoComplete Settings,  and make sure User names and passwords on forms is checked.

Firefox Settings

Although Firefox 45esr is the officially supported version from Oracle, all versions since 3.6 have been fine. If you are installing Firefox just for Planning, install the latest esr version. But if you already have the latest non-esr version, it should be fine. The Remote XUL Manager (blocked by UPHS) is no longer necessary.

Make sure all popup blockers are off in Options, Content, and anywhere else you have a popup blocker.

To remember your PennKey and masked password,  in Options, Security, Check remember logins for site. Make sure there isn't an exception that says never remember a PennKey.
